Today, Colin Powell endorsed Barack Obama for president. I'm not particularly impressed. Like the dollar, Colin Powell used to be an inflated currency that has since fallen on hard times.
But if I were a conservative, I would be in a state of panic.
If a guy who lied about Iraq before the UN and blithely discussed torture techniques is supporting Obama, who's left to bolster McCain.

But don't you think that Powell was just loyal to the Bush Administration? I don't think a Powell administration would have started a war in Iraq or endorsed torture. Do you? As a liberal, I kind of like Powell. I just think he was in the wrong place as Sec. of State for this administration. To me, he was one of the only decent persons in the whole White House gang.
As a very savvy political figure, Powell knew that his reputation for moderation and honesty was providing political cover for Bush administration abuses. If he head been thinking about the good of the country, Powell should have resigned from the Bush administration when he started having fundamental objections. Instead, Powell hung on until Bush fired him.
