Right-wing Blog Behind RSI Times

Today, RSI was visited by the gang at Proteinwisdom, an above average right-wing blog where the main poster at least for today is a guy named Jeff Goldstein. As is usually the case with conservatives, though Goldstein was well behind the times and the group was commenting on a "Weenie-Boy Masculinity and the Right" post that I had written way back 150 posts ago on April 17. I don't even think I had gray hair that far back.

The comments were the usual right-wing blend of clever put-downs and in-house jokes. Check them out in the comment section of the Weenie-Boy post or visit the comment section of the relevant post at proteinwisdom. If nothing else, readers can see how real right-wingers think when no one's watching.

Oh how silly! You think that commentators at proteinwisdom think that no one is watching?

I will say that for the first time *ever* I'm evaluating Rush Limbaugh's masculinity.

All this time I had been ignoring it.

If you want to see a classic weenie boy pose, check out Limbaugh holding a cigar at his web site.

geez, Prof, you seem to have this "thing" about Limbaugh.

What say you of Dennis Prager? Hugh Hewitt? Michelle Malkin? Jeanne Kirkpatrick? Thomas Sowell? Christine Hoff Sommers? Tammy Bruce? Ronald Reagan?

I do understand your reluctance to actually engage Jeff Goldstein, but you don't mind a visit or two from other members of the Conservative Cancer?

But you see, I never thought much about Rush beyond a reasonable certainty that he has exterior plumbing, but that was just the usual automatic pronoun determination.

You detest Limbaugh. I get that, I really do.

Would it be possible for him to take a picture that you liked?

You know your post about Rush and Bush are interesting. It appears as though you try to bring down the masculinity of others you don't like. This type of joke seems better fit in a frat house than a piece of "academic" work like this. I suppose real analysis and thoughtful research is not to be expected, slightly elevated college humor is all you can bring to the table.

Professor,

You are one of many poster boys for why I do not consider a college education worth a fraction of what they charge.

here is an example of what conservatives percieve as masculine http://www.michaelyon-online.com/wp/warrior.htm , both the writer, and those he writes about.

I also think you can consider Bush masculine using the data points that he could run a 6 minute mile at 50, he mountain bikes currently and has taken some pretty punishing headers over the handle bars, and he apparantly enjoys clearing mesquite brush during the summer in Texas. Having done manual labor of this type in Texas in the summer, I can attest to the masculinity of it.

Ric, I commend you for your comments and for ignoring the responces to them in this case. These people are too wrapped up in their own little right-wing world to even begin to comprehend what you are saying. They are idiots. They see what they want to see. Their repiles tell me that. Kudos to you and RSI!

To Synova,

Unlike most people on the left, I don't detest Limbaugh. I think he's a very talented guy and a very tough opponent for the left. When he was recovering from his drug addiction, I wrote a pretty sympathetic post for Slate's Fray. OxyContin is a nasty addiction and is a big problem in Eastern Kentucky.

To Joel,

All that Bush work-out stuff is alcoholism-recovery related. I'm glad he's not an alcoholic but I don't see any other significance. I've seen Michael Yon's stuff and thought he was going to be a bigger force than he turned out to be. Talk about homoerotic!

To Darlene,

Limbaugh is the most popular right-wing media figure. Most of those Townhall writers are deadly dull. I might be one of the only people on the left who can stay awake long enough to comment on them.
Christine Hoff Summers' argument against modern feminism is the same kind of flimsy sham that Bill Bennett pulls on African-Americans.

To Tod,

Keep the faith.
