Drifting Towards Obama or Putting My Mouth Where My Money Is!

I recognize that Geraldine Ferraro no longer has an official connection with the Hillary campaign, but I think the Ferraro episode has led me to drift over the line toward supporting Obama more than Hillary. It bothered me that Ferraro thought she was helping Hillary Clinton with her garbage about Obama only being ahead because he's black and it bothered me even more that Hillary Clinton didn't disown Ferraro imediately.

I'm not overly excited by the idea of switching to Obama and dislike a lot of Obama's facile rhetoric about overcoming race, class, and gender divisions. Likewise, I don't accept Obama's assumption that the war with the right is going to disappear if Obama wins the election. I'm sure I would vote for Hillary if the Kentucky primary were held today.

However, I also sense that my support for Hillary is based more on reluctance to give up my previous support than anything else. One could say that I'm torn about who to support, but it would be more accurate to see me as gradually drifting toward the Obama side. Perhaps I've been doing so ever since the South Carolina primary.

Or maybe I'm just putting my mouth where my money is. I've contributed twice as much to Obama as I have to Hillary.

No, no, no. Do you hear what you are saying? You can't abandon Hillary because of what others say about Obama. Hillary would make the best president of the three. She is a political machine and prepped for eight years under Bill and now eight more dealing with Bush. It is her "turn" to be president. Just because Obama makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside is no reason to jump ship. Hillary will win this thing in the end. Her and Bill are sore losers and winning is what they are up to. There is a plenty of time to pull this thing off and Obama is ripe for a bad goof to shift the tide. Obama makes your ears ring with great words and dazzles crowds with his charisma and charm, but Hillary would still make the best president. I would like to believe the Obama talk could carry some weight if he was president but he wouldn't be able to get anything done that Hillary could get done. She has history on her side. Obama is the dark horse (no pun intended) coming out of nowhere to take the prize. Might be popular but he is not as practical. All your talk about Hillary and you come down to jumping ship. Stick to your guns and when Hillary pulls this thing off it will all make sense.

Do this and you become part of the problem. What good are you if you can't display some fucking loyalty?

Hillary will be president! Remember, this is politics! Politics favors Hillary. She is the best politician. That is what she has been all her life. Obama is a human being impersonating a politician. His human side is appealing and has mesmerized the masses, but to be president he would have to yield to the dark side of politics. Hillary was born on the dark side of politics and tries to hide that on the campaign trail. Shed a tear, cry a bit, be offended at how rude others are. Oh, gee, poor Hillary. She gets more votes playing the victim than being her true black-hearted self. If she really could hide her dark side she would have wiped out Obama by now. In politics the dark side isn't as appealing but always wins. Why do negative campaign adds always work better than positive adds? Hillary is the political queen of the dark side and will cast her spell on this campaign before it's over. Hillary will be president. And you, Dr. Caric, will bow down and worship her in the end, once again, as president.

Is Barack Obama a man whose time has come? Does he represent the true embodiment of the American Dream? Is this man who claims he wants to be President of the United States, a phenomenon, a savior, or just a joke? If he is a joke then the joke has been told too many times, and is no longer funny. And if he truly wants to be our president then is it not prudent to question the judgment of a politician who has aligned himself with a group of people who clearly express, not only disdain but, hatred for at least 80% of the American electorate?

By now, most of us have seen the clips of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright supporting his candidate from the pulpit of Barack Obama’s chosen church, Trinity United Church of Christ, in Chicago. Wright’s sermons are loaded with the most venomous and vitriolic blasts of racism and hatred that could ever be imagined coming from an extremist group, much less from a church which professes to be unashamedly Christian. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH5ixmT83JE&eurl=http://www.pcplanets.com/videoyoutube-Jeremiah-Wright-God-Damn-America.nH5ixmT83JE.shtml

The blatant racism and hatred, expressed by their church, for a country which has clearly not subjected the Obamas to the degree of discrimination they most certainly would have encountered in other parts of the world, is not simply troubling, it just does not make any sense. Both are college educated, both have good jobs, live in what would be considered luxury by a good portion of the populace, and one of them is now the leading contender for the Democrat nomination for President of the United States. And yet the words of Michele Obama reveal the depth to which her heart and soul are filled with the hatred and bigotry that is espoused by the Reverend Wright. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvGalQ1YdcI

Her confession is that she has never been proud of her country until now, now that her husband is running for president. She has never been proud of a country that has given her husband that opportunity, a country that has given millions the opportunity to live in peace and prosperity, free from tyranny and oppression, under the umbrella of freedom provided by the American Constitution. Who can listen and not be disturbed?

What can be learned about Barack Obama himself? Not much if it is left up to the Obama campaign and to the DNC which is so hungry for power and so driven to regain the White House that it has gravitated toward his enigmatic personality, an enigma with no clearly documented qualifications for the office to which he aspires, and one with grave overtones of something dark and dangerous against which the good people of all races have been fighting since the country was formed.

The Devil is in the details, it is said, and it is the details that condemn Barack Obama. His refusal to wear a flag lapel pin may seem like a small thing, a small detail, but Obamas reasoning that a true patriot does not need to wear a lapel pin. Granted, but neither is a true patriot required not to wear one. Refusal to place one’s hand over his heart for the playing of the National Anthem may be a small detail to some…but not to most, I suspect.

Neither are Obama’s dealings with domestic terrorist William Ayers of the Weather Underground movement, a small detail, but rather a matter of significant concern and perhaps a peek into the mind and intentions of the real Barack Obama? And what of his business relationship with Tony Rezco who, to his credit, appears to be merely crook and not an Anti-American operative, as is Obama’ brother, Abongo Obama who is a member of a group named Luo, a Muslim terrorist organization? Are these things just minor details or should the American voter take another look?

There is more than innuendo involved in the effort to sufficiently vet the person, the qualifications and the agenda of Barack Obama. There is much in his record about which Americans should be concerned. The spell-binding rhetoric of the weaver of dreams and hope, and the promise of change, from what and to what, must be closely and seriously examined with the magnifying glass of common sense and truth.

Recently, Obama has distanced himself from Reverend Jeremiah Wright and his racism. Obama has claimed that he was not aware of Reverend Wright’s hate filled sermons. He says that on the occasions he attended the services, the pastor dutifully spoke of Jesus and the business of Christianity. Obama said that, had he known of the vile words emanating from the pulpit of his chosen church…he would have quit. Well, he knows now.

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. Proverbs 25:11

Unfit words, hatred and bigotry and the twisted lies of blasphemy, which spew, in great quantities, from the pulpit of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, are like Apples of blood in a picture of death.
