The standard line:
If Obama wins big and the Democrats sweep in Congress, this election will be a repudiation of the Republican Party.
What I'm beginning to think:
If Obama wins big and the Democrats sweep in Congress, this election will be a repudiation of the Republican Party, conservative ideology, and conservatives as people.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. You used the word "big" in your statement. What if Obama just squeaks by or we get another "Florida" set of states where they didn't read their ballots or there was widespread voter fraud? The Republican Party has been able to live below the radar and then emerge to take elections back. Bush for two terms?
I don't have a lot of faith in Obama to be able to really make drastic positive change, but have absolutely no faith in the Republican Party to do anything to improve the economy.
I still think there are a lot of fundamental religious conservative people in the US and they will vote when called upon, but the economy seems to be taking precedence over other issues. We haven't yet seen the same level of gays, guns and god campaign adds that we witnessed last time, which may be a part of what you are saying.
Also, your repudiation may be over-polled and may diminish if Obama turns out to be ineffective in addressing the economic issues.
I don't think we would see a Hillary vs Palin race next but that would be the best public spectacle since professional wrestling hit cable TV.
I'm all for the repudiation of both political parties for not looking after the store and having to pass a $700 billion bailout of the bankers and Wall Street.
Repudiate away!
I also use the word "if" because I don't necessarily think it's in the bag for Obama.
There's a couple of decent polls that still have Obama within the Margin of error.
