I Never Would Have Guessed This

Sarah Palin got booed, loudly booed, when she dropped the ceremonial first puck for the Flyers opening game against the Rangers tonight.

Who would have thought that?

Philadelphia routinely turns out 250,000 vote margins for Democratic candidates. Philadelphia sports fans are legendary for booing Santa Claus. No one in their right mind would have guessed that Philly fans would boo an unpopular Republican vice-presidential candidate like Palin.

To top it off, Palin had two daughters with her to share the misery--seven-year old daughter Piper and pregnant Bristol.

Something tells me Piper and Bristol Palin won't be writing books about what a great mom Sarah Palin was.

You are correct - someone should have known that she could be booed.

I believe this is yet another representation of how McCain is operating his campaign - completely mismanaged. McCain's campaign was nearly broke a few months ago due to major miscalculation by his campaign staff of incoming funds. Someone on his campaign staff should have known better than to display Walter Reed Middle School rather than the hospital on the big screen at the Republican Convention; someone should have known not to allow him to speak in front of a green screen; someone should have known better than to pick someone as obviously inexperienced as Palin. Palin has extreme difficulties stringing together coherent sentences. Palin has lots of known baggage like "troopergate," a pregnant unwed teenage daughter, and a husband with recent membership in an Alaskan secessionist party. Palin is simply not a good choice for VP. I believe most conservatives are secretly seething about his pick of Palin (some not so secretly - David Brooks, Kathleen Parker, and Buckley's son). Some of these issues are indeed minor and standing alone do not speak to his intellect, but they do speak to his complete lack of management ability.

With his admitted lack of knowledge about the economy, it is fair to suggest he will need to surround himself with others who are knowledgeable. Given McCain's track record thus far, how can I trust that he would surround himself with capable persons?

In addition to Palin's obvious incompetence, I also believe McCain is alarmingly unprepared to manage our country.

Nevertheless, I am an Obama supporter; so I say to McCain, "Keep up the Good Work."

Thanks for bringing up the Santa Clause reference. I had forgotten about that one.
