The Fluff Right Lives

Good News for Fluff Right Fans--Protein Wisdom is back in business. It appears that former lead blogger Jeff Goldstein has gone on blogging vacation for a year. That's kind of surprising. Usually, rehab only goes for thirty days. Dan Collins seems to be the guy now, but fans of content free conservatism shouldn't worry. Collins works just as hard at being funny as Goldstein.

Just as wrong as always, though

"why even bother" in italics, no less....such angst.

Although, Professor, going through their posts, I see them as classical neo-conservatives. They love the war in Iraq, think the "global war on terrorism" is a real war, imagine they can "re-make" the Middle East, offer unquestioning support for the right in Israel, hate the United Nations and all things European, and declare apostasy to be the cardinal sin of Republicans.

I find it hard to think of them as a cancer, as they are just some old guys typing at a keyboard and thinking this is a "clash of civilizations" and George Bush is Churchill. Since that represents probably 15% of the electorate, I'll guess I visit for th laughs.

Hats off to you. I've only looked at their posts for the last two or three weeks.

The Protein Wisdom crowd does seem to follow a neo-con line, but they don't have any specific arguments for it. For example, they praise Michael Yon to the skies, but they don't have specific arguments for the war like, say, John McCain. They also satirize Al Gore without actually arguing against his global warming ideas.

Actually, I don't view the Protein Wisdom group as the same kind of cancer as the neo-cons, religious right, etc. They're mostly just amusing themselves.

I think I mentioned that in a previous post.

Now, that you've seen what they have to offer: slurs against a war hero for being a Democrat and opposing the Vietnam War, rampant war-mongering, and their resident genius RTO, he of the smoke and mirrors and the absolutist rhetoric: WE'RE WINNING AND WILL FINISH VICTORY (in the next 5 years), can I assume you see the neo-con.

I love, by the way, when he throws around his cherry-picked counter-insurgency timeline without mentioning the same doctrine require 2 soldiers per 100 civilians and we don't even those numbers in Baghdad!

Just an embarrassing performance by them.

That's a good point about the discussion at Protein Wisdom last night. RTO and the commenters are still neo-con absolutists. I'm surprised he didn't throw in Iran.

Still, I think it is important to recognize the extent to which Jeff Goldstein and Dan Collins are going for comic punch lines in their top posts. It's important to undermine their constant assertions that they're the coolest guys around. It's a symbolic advantage they shouldn't be allowed to have.

You, professor, are an ass. Jeff was very up front about why he was taking some time off, and the documents from the legal matters were available. To imply that he was needing rehab is just wrong, but you are used to that, pussy.

To the last Anonymous. Aren't we sensitive? And I know Jeff G. would never take a cheap shot at anybody on the left.

JD is almost as sensitive as Jeff is.

Sensitive? I guess that is one way to describe it. But I thought sensitivity to others was an admirable trait in your circles. I guess that is a one way street, huh? I would choose to describe it as a person that thinks that your choice of terms of derision, ie. needing rehab, are blatant lies, since he has told everyone exactly why he was taking a break. Are we to assume that you agree with Prof. Frisch's actions?

Pussy.
