Charlie Gibson: Winner of the McCain Media Patsy Prize

The McCain Campaign has just voted Charles Gibson of ABC News as the easiest touch in the mainstream media.

That's why they agreed to let Gibson be the first media figure to interview Sarah Palin.

Congratulations to Charlie Gibson.

The McCain Media Patsy Prize is certainly a prestigious prize and Gibson beat out a lot of tough competition to emerge as top patsy.

Postscript: Liberal bloggers Glenn Greenwald and Digby think that Palin will do just fine during the interview. I'm not so sure that's the case. Palin's certainly a smart politician, but media members can trip even the smartest politicians on small inconsequential points if they want to. The late and overly lamented Tim Russert's question to Hillary Clinton about driver's licenses for illegal aliens is a case in point.

I'll bet the mayor of your town, Morehead-KY, could be interviewed by Gibson and come out looking like a VP candidate. What a fraud. Palin is a broken record on the campaign trail. She is a VP candidate who can't demonstrate the ability to get on the news programs and tell us what she thinks? Is this the best the campaign can get? McCain and Palin tell us nothing. They get a pass on the facts. Yet the polls bump them up. I'm mystified as to where this is going.

I'm horrified as to where this is going. I'm also near panic as I await SOMEONE in the dem camp to "bring it." What are they waiting for? 80% of Americans think the republicans tanked for 8 years, but the polls show a dead heat?

McCain and Palin certainly are not the best the republicans can get, they're just the best they HAVE to get. They've now bowed to the religious right who will mobilize the lemmings on 11/4. Ours is truly a society in decay.
