Eliot Spitzer's Inner John Bolton

I have some advice for Eliot Spitzer. Hey Eliot! Your lame apology is not enough. Now that it's been revealed that you've used prostitutes, you need to grab your sword and fall on it. If you're not satisfied with euphemism, then just run yourself through. No, I don't mean you should kill yourself. You should commit political suicide and resign. If you want to do something really appropriate, you should politically disembowel yourself as well.

The more pathetic thing from this whole scandal is how yet again another American woman is standing by her man. At least French President Sarkozy's ex-wife got herself a boy-toy, but like Hillary Clinton, Spitzer's wife is but another example of the foolish but well-meaning and all too loyal for her own good woman who sticks with her husband. At least, to my knowledge, Spitzer's wife has never proclaimed to be a feminist as Hillary has. Spitzer’s wife would have done herself and frankly all women a service had she not appeared at his press conference.

The so-called American feminist movement is a joke and hypocritical--as evinced by Hillary's crying a few weeks ago or the "pretty in pink" press conference after the 1994 mid-term elections. Similarly, like these young female students, they demand equal treatment but will cry, or show some skin--not that Hillary has, but the way things are going, why not; Bill won't care!--if it suits their purpose to gain an advantage in school, or in the work-force. Not only that, these same women who have no problem flirting or dressing provocatively will also be the first to cry sexism and even sexual harassment if they don't get their way. It is for this reason European women have nothing but legitimate scorn and contempt for people like Hillary Clinton and even American women in general.

Lest I seem chauvinist and too hard on dear, sweet American women, another disturbing trend in America is what I call the pussification of the American man. Both CNN and FOXNEWS were both interviewing counselors today to explain why an educated, successful and presumably happy (!) family man like Spitzer would seek the companionship of prostitute. Although I agree with their analysis, I was shocked to hear two women express a distinctly contrarian, minority and politically and socially incorrect view—and a view that will certainly get them in trouble with most women—that Spitzer’s behavior was due to his feeling worthless and underappreciated by his wife. This doesn’t excuse his behavior, but that these two counselors would suggest this as a reason and even suggest that wives make more of an effort to make their husband feel special and wanted is an indication of what I called the pussification of the American man such that men today have become utterly whipped and dominated by their girlfriends and wives. Admittedly, as I observe this among my married male friends, it is easier to simply concur with the woman’s viewpoint and behavior rather than argue and then be put in the doghouse and inevitably have to “apologize” to get back into her good graces. Is it any wonder so many married men go to strip clubs and so many men, married, or in a relationship, watch so much sports and porn—they are anaesthetizing themselves from the drudgery of their pathetic, whipped miserable life. Now I will say at least many, if not most men, have come to accept that it is no longer acceptable to beat their wives such that the woman submit to the husband, or the boyfriend. Recall, there is a I Love Lucy episode where Lucy wears sunglasses to hide a beating she received by her husband. Perhaps this pussification of the American men is payback by women for all this male oppression against women in the past. Even President Bush is a pussy whipped man in his tendency to cry and his appeal in 2000 to being a compassionate conservative—this was a strategy to win over women voters who perceived the Republican Party as allegedly “too mean and negative.” And Hillary Clinton sought to justify Bill’s “indiscretions” on the fact that he came from a broken home.

Yes, lest there be any doubt, I am of course single—I refuse to submit to a woman!

Actually, I just did a google search and found that a lot of people spell his name Eliot Switzer. Regardless, you should just grow up! Until then, keep quiet!

Bad editing error there. But maybe Eliot Spitzer and Barry Switzer were using the same escort service.

To Sinjuin. That post was kind of a snore. To put it mildly, Spitzer is a jerk who's getting what he deserves. How in the world would any television commentator know anything about Spitzer's home life? Likewise, you blame the consumption of prostitutes, pornography, and strip shows on women. On the basis of what evidence. From what I've read about strippers, they mostly think of their clientele as pathetic loser types. Why wouldn't that be a better interpretation?

Kind of a snore is better than a total snore I guess; perhaps your being generous because I didn't lamely point out you misspelled the Governor's last name, and/or I am a new visitor to your blog.

The evidence is all the men, especially married men, who visit strip clubs. No doubt they are losers to do that, especially if you're married, but what does that tell you that so many men allegedly do that. These men who do that apparently crave the illusion of attention that they don't think they are getting at home from their wives. This is a symptom of a far larger problem in American culture and society that I believe virtually caters exclusively to and focuses on women (e.g., note how less Father's Day is treated than Mother's Day; the latter becomes almost an after thought). Women are partly to blame as is American culture in general which as I said, has led to the pussification of men, or to their de-masculinization (I don't think that's a word!). Now days, it's seemingly politically incorrect to even be a man, or to challenge women's views on almost any subject, or if you do you had better tread carefully lest you be "mean" and "insensitive"--what I call playing the gender card. I hear women routinely say they need to train men--what does that tell you.

The Feminist Movement and women in this country have somehow succeeded in turning most American men into whipped robots, but I admit most men, for whatever reason have tolerated this, for reasons I don't know, or understand--guilt perhaps; like white liberal guilt? So instead of not tolerating this nonsense, they life quiet lives of suffering by going to strip clubs and/or immersing themselves in sports.

The fact that those two women counselors were even asked to speculate why Spitzer did this is also telling about not only our media, but also our culture and the nature of gender roles, or the relationship between the genders.

Perhaps it's simply that over the last forty years the culture has changed such that woman are no longer expected to defer to the man, which they shouldn't, but we seem to have gone completely to the other direction. As you yourself said in a post a few weeks ago, part of Obama's appeal is he is androgynous, which I agree, and thus he seems safe--neither allegedly macho like McCain the barbarian male, nor Hillary, a woman seemingly unsure of her gender and role (remember all those different hair styles while she was First Lady?)--traditional woman, or modern, independent feminist woman?

To Sinjuin: I do appreciate your interest in the blog, but disagree with your comment on women. My own opinion is that the impact of feminism has been to "unhinge" the normal homoeroticism of heterosexual guys and make it much more prominent. I don't see a "whipped" male culture out there; I see a heavily homoerotic male culture.
