I'm married with two daughters and have been teaching political science in a red state for 19 years. My blogging covers a lot of issues but I'm a progressive kind of guy who tends to focus on political process, conservatism, and religiosity. Living in the Bible Belt gives me a little different though not necessarily more friendly perspective on conservatism. I also get in the occasional sports post.

McCain's Lost Ground Overall
It looks like the Palin nomination is going to be a significant negative for McCain. After a couple of weeks of Palin criticism from the media and liberal blogs, Obama is back in front in two out of the three daily tracking polls. True, Obama still hasn't regained the 3 point aggregate lead he had going into the Democratic convention. But the ultimate outcome of the Palin nomination is that McCain's now on the defensive and not very comfortable with that. In fact, McCain seems to have completely lost his footing in relation to Palin, the Wall Street meltdown, and yesterday's huge gaffe about Spain being an enemy.
