I'm married with two daughters and have been teaching political science in a red state for 19 years. My blogging covers a lot of issues but I'm a progressive kind of guy who tends to focus on political process, conservatism, and religiosity. Living in the Bible Belt gives me a little different though not necessarily more friendly perspective on conservatism. I also get in the occasional sports post.

Biden's Effect on McCain
McCain still has to choose a VP nominee. I imagine that McCain will want someone who can project the same foreign policy gravitas as Biden during the VP debate. That should play in Lieberman's favor.
Boy, if McCain is making his choice based on Obama's pick, then he's really running a reactive campaign.
My guess is that he made his choice already, but he's taking advantage of choosing when to announce it to the country to control the news cycle. Pointless before the Dem convention, since the Dems would be able to define his pick before he could, plus he gets to step on the media focus on Obama if he announces the pick the morning after the Dem convention ends.
