I'm married with two daughters and have been teaching political science in a red state for 19 years. My blogging covers a lot of issues but I'm a progressive kind of guy who tends to focus on political process, conservatism, and religiosity. Living in the Bible Belt gives me a little different though not necessarily more friendly perspective on conservatism. I also get in the occasional sports post.

Hillary Being Presidential?
I caught the last twenty minutes of the Democratic debate. Tim Grieve of Salon thought Hillary was acting presidential because she wasn't taking any guff from Tim Russert. I'll add that she looked very relaxed and comfortable up there as well. One of the things you have to like about Hillary Clinton as a presidential candidate is that she's getting better at it all the time.
I've been impressed from day one of the campaign but she really is getting better at this.
ReplyDeleteI hate the media's obsession with the word "presidential". Looking, acting or being presidential is simply journalist shorthand for "I'm too lazy to cover the issues, but I sure like candidate X".
ReplyDeleteTo Jinchi--I can see that. But given that the media interprets "looking presidential" as making a lot of tough-guy gestures, I also feel that it's necessary to provide an alternative point of view.
