I'm married with two daughters and have been teaching political science in a red state for 19 years. My blogging covers a lot of issues but I'm a progressive kind of guy who tends to focus on political process, conservatism, and religiosity. Living in the Bible Belt gives me a little different though not necessarily more friendly perspective on conservatism. I also get in the occasional sports post.

Book Proposal Done!
My book proposal for Displays of Degradation: Cultural Transformations in Philadelphia, 1785-1850 is on its way to the University of Pennsylvania Press. Submitting a book proposal was a big mental block for me. So putting it into the mail felt good.
Congratulations. I'm still working on a 25 page research paper and it feels daunting. I can't imagine what a looming book must feel like.

Unfortunately, finishing a proposal and finishing a book aren't quite the same.

Dr. Caric, if Ann Coulter can get published that surely someone with talent, such as yourself, can get published. I mean come on!
